How Custom Rings Are Made

Step 1: the brief

You tell us the budget, the stone, the setting style, and anything you have seen that you like. Bring reference images. This stage is a conversation, and it is where most of the decisions get made.

Step 2: design and render

We produce a design or CAD render. You will not see a photograph at this stage, because the piece does not exist yet. What you see is an accurate representation of geometry and stone placement.

You are approving specification, not appearance. Please read the render carefully, and check size, stone and metal.

Step 3: your approval

We do not begin production until you approve in writing. This step is where we both have certainty.

If the stone changes at this point, the price changes. That is normal and we will quote the difference before you commit.

Step 4: production

Setting, soldering, polishing, and setting the stone. Timing depends on the complexity of the design and on the centre stone, which is often sourced to your specification.

Step 5: inspection and delivery

Every piece is inspected before it ships. If anything is not right, we fix it before it reaches you rather than after.

What changes the price

  • Carat weight of the centre stone, usually the largest single factor
  • Metal and its weight, heavier settings cost more
  • Complexity of the design, particularly pavé and intricate shoulders
  • Finishing, hand-finishing and high polish add time

Timelines

Tell us before you order if you have a date. We will say honestly whether it is achievable rather than take the order and miss it.
