A lab-grown stone can be graded perfectly and still be set badly. This page explains what actually happens between your order and the box arriving.

1. Stone sourcing and verification

Before a stone enters production we confirm its laboratory report. Each stone is matched to a published grading report, and the report number is recorded against your order. How to read your diamond certificate explains what each grade means.

2. CAD design

Your ring is modeled in CAD (computer-aided design) software before any metal is touched. This is where proportions are set, the stone seat is sized to the exact girdle diameter of your diamond, and prongs are positioned. You approve a render or 3D model before casting begins. 3. Casting and machining

The approved model is cast, then the piece is machined. Machining matters: it brings the band to final dimension, seats the stone precisely, and leaves the surface ready for finishing. As-cast surfaces are not acceptable as a finished product.

4. Stone setting

Stones are set by hand. The seat is cut to fit the girdle, and prongs or bezel are formed and refined so the diamond is held securely without being buried or tilted. A diamond that moves in its setting is a defect, and we do not ship one.

5. Finishing

Surfaces are polished to remove casting porosity, then edges are softened so the ring feels smooth in hand. Lapping and internal-polishing steps follow. This is the difference between a piece that photographs well and a piece that feels finished.

6. Inspection

Every ring passes a multi-point inspection before shipping: stone security, stone alignment against the setting, dimensional accuracy against the approved design, surface finish, and size. If any point fails, the piece goes back rather than out the door. See our quality assurance process.

Can I request a change to the design after ordering?
