Custom wedding bands

Wedding bands are where metal matching matters most, and where people most often end up with a band that does not quite go with the ring they chose first.

Matching an existing ring

Send us your engagement ring, or good photographs of it. We match on metal, finish, and proportion, not just the metal name. A white gold band next to a platinum ring with a high-polish finish will read as a mismatch even though both are "white metal."

Set stones and pavé bands need the most attention to matching, because the stone size, spacing, and setting height all need to correspond. This is precisely where custom helps.

Band styles

• Plain — polished, brushed, or hammered. The most durable and the easiest to resize, and it never dates.
• Pavé — stones set into the band. See the melee note in settings. Requires periodic re-tipping.
• Eternity — stones set all the way around. Beautiful and delicate, and the most difficult band to resize. We will tell you before you order.
• Milled or beveled edges — a modern edge detail that reads as a single line of light around the finger.
• Hand engraving — interior engraving, in our experience the part people notice most.

Comfort fit

A comfort-fit interior is domed rather than flat, so it sits between the fingers instead of against them. It is noticeably more comfortable, adds bulk, and is harder to resize than a flat band. Worth it, in our view, and the reason we offer it by default on wide bands.

Durability for everyday wear

A wedding band is the piece you will never take off, so durability outranks delicacy. If you work with your hands, we would steer you toward a plain or milled band in 14k or platinum over a pavé eternity. See metals guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do wedding bands need to match exactly?

They need to match in metal and finish, which we handle through custom work. They do not need to be identical in design, and a deliberately non-matching band is a legitimate choice.

Can I resize a wedding band later?

Plain and solid bands resize easily. Pavé and eternity bands are considerably harder because the stones must be removed and reset. We are explicit about this before you order.
